So, if like me, you want to watch it a thousand times, you can. If you tear up at that moment at 1:57, like I did...

Roll on 18/12! I'll bring the tea, you bring the awesome!
beckymonster: Superman Returns (movies_superman_returns)

Full trailer for 'Man Of Steel'. As much as I love Superman Returns (and I do - a hell of a lot) I am moving from being ambivalent to being rather interested in this... that is until I remind myself that the director is Zack Snyder.

Still, glass half full and all that.

In other news - Reason no. 564 why New Zealand is awesome - other than those involving Fantasy films and odd shaped balls:

New Zealand becomes the first Asia/Pacific country to legalise Equal Marriage.

And, yes, there is an awesome reason for the singing too

To honour of one of the hoopiest froods ever - Mr Douglas Adams, who would have been 61 today. Whereever you are, have a Pan Galactic Gargleblaster on all of us.

If you can read this, it's because I have you as a friend. There is a *damn* good reason for this, which I hope will become abundantly clear.

So - yes, seven years ago today, I started this blog. Sometimes it seems like seven minutes, other times it seems like seventy years;) Even so, I just want to make a note of this achievement and look back (and look forwards) at the year gone by.

One of the big events of the year gone by was the arrival the Shinzon Monster AKA my nephew. He's six months old tomorrow and he's... well... have a look for yourself:

Photobucket

I don't know if you can see it but his onesie says 'Hungry Monster' - he's also a very *chatty* monster as well. It's all 'babble' at the moment (or rather my babel fish cannot translate 'baby') but I get the impression that he's inherited the Monster ability to talk. As well as the desire to stand up rather than sit up... Heavens only knows what he's going to be like when he gets to the year mark!

Since this is not Facebook - Baby In A Sink )

Brave (2012) Japanese Trailer With English Subtitles

Regular readers will know that I love and adore Pixar's movies. Yes, even Cars 2 but this... I entreat you all to watch the above and come back here and squee with me.

This could be a thing of wonder and amazement - and that's just her hair!;)

I am hoping against hope that this turns up at the Edinburgh Film Festival this year as I desperately want to see this and waiting until mid-August would be a crime. Because you'll be hearing 'Is It August Yet?! How About Now?!' an awful lot!

* * *

In other news, it's been a busy evening. On top of the usual shenanigans, we seem to have 'gained' a Christian prayer group in the foyer. Complete with a rather large poster. So long as they do not try to 'preach' to the students (or even worse, to the staff. Survivor Of A Catholic Education here!) - live and let live, say I, but I'll talk to the bosses in the morning, all the same.

*Ahem*

A happy Thanksgiving to the Americans. A good Thursday to everybody else (bar the Aussies, where it's better to say TFI Friday!)

A long and very *random* list of things I am thankful for... )

So, have fun, enjoy yourselves, don't argue and leave some pie/cake for everyone else!

Okay, I have been remiss in this, so it's a twofer. I shall try to be a bit quicker with April's but no points for guessing what most of April's will consist of... Doctor Who squee!

Anyway - This is a list of things that I, [livejournal.com profile] becky_monster, considered to be hewn from AWESOME for the months of February and March.

- Spring! Springing! I know there are those on my flist who will laugh hysterically at what we in the UK had as a winter this year but... I hated it and I am glad to see the back of it!

- Winning the lottery! Okay all £6.10 of it but - it's a *win*!

- Having an an office with a roof at work! Do you know how noisy libraries can be? Very! That and having a throw out. Always therapeutic! So much for the paperless office.

- TV! awesomeness of 'Being Human broke my little heart and was inutterably awesome doing it. Seriously, if you aren't already watching this show - do eeet!
Wonders of the Solar System rediscovered my love of astronomy as well as giving me a new lust object - Helllooooo Prof Brian Cox! mind if I sit on your lap so you can explain cutting edge physics to me?

- Writing! - Not as much as last November but... I am!
Admittedly the story I am currently writing will only be posted at gunpoint (long story short - clichearama!) but I am enjoying the whole 'putting words into pixels' thing. Who knows, perhaps there will be readable fic in the not too distant... (serkit message to [livejournal.com profile] kitzen_kat I still want to write your five things suggestion. It's next on the list after the current bunny has been written.)

- Movies! With the Oscars out of the way It's now movie teim again! Feb & March's List Of Movies I Have Seen.

- Doctor Who: New trailer, New, new, new Doctor (who comes across in interviews as being a real sweetheart!). Captain Jack being evil and hawt in 'Desperate Housewives' and with a new album too.

Cited because it's not the mundane that's memorable - it's the magnificent!

If nobody else mentions the fact that I'm over a week late posting this, then neither will I.

Um - HAI!;)

So - without further ado...

A List of Things that were classifed as being Made of Awesome for January

- Doctor Who: End of Time Part II

- Introducing friends from different 'parts' of my life to each other... and no one ran away screaming (apart from my mascara - which is another story altogether!)

- Matthew Bourne's 'Swan Lake' - pretty men dancing to *beautiful* music never gets old!

- Being Human I have so much love for this series, it's becoming a little scary making - in a good way, mind;)

- The Mayor of Castro Street - The Life and Times of Harvey Milk, written by Randy Shilts. An excellent biography and a good starter on modern gay history. If anyone has any good recommendations for further reading - please share!

- Going to see La Cage Aux Folles again. Different cast this time around (Denis Lawson and Douglas Hodge as George and Albin/Zaza). Still a wonderful musical and who knew *Wedge Antillies* could sing?!

I *think* I've mentioned from time to time that I have a perchant for dance. I know I mentioned it when I talked about Torchwood 'Captain Jack Harkness' (or rather, see icon!)

Well, this is the production that started my love of dance off.

YouTube video of the Swans Dancing - Possibly NSFW )

Squeefest Ahoy! )

The production finishes at Sadlers Wells this weekend but is on tour around England and Wales from now to Easter (it's in Cardiff the week of mine and John Barrowman's birthdays - mine's 12/3, his is 11/3 - which is the only reason why I remember it - honest!).
It goes without saying that if you are a slasher - you need this in your life. The DVD should be borrowable from your local public Library or the rental service of your choice. Even if you aren't - go/watch it. It's a thing of beauty.

Oh - btw if anyone wants a copy of the soundtrack - yell. I have a copy and 'arrangements' can be made. Also, Cinderella (which hasn't been performed for nearly ten years) looks like it might be the next production for Christmas 2010. One thing is certain. Whatever this company do - I'll go to see it. Wonderful stuff.
