*Ahem*

Is this thing still on? Bit dusty around here but nothing that a feather duster (and possibly a lightsabre) couldn't fix.

I've no idea what my presence is going to be like... [livejournal.com profile] yuletide is coming, so I am *hoping* to be around for that (my SEVENTH time around... that can't be right?!) who knows... I might even get my Sunshine fic...

And meat might fly etc.

Anyhow - how are you guys?

- Y'know, I am going to have to either schedule in posts or set myself a goal to post every day ala [livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo else I just let it slide something terrible.

Anyhow - I am here mores the pity!. And I don't have videos to share neither. Oops.

Health Update or 'Mick' Update )

In happier news - I saw Lawrence of Arabia on a BIG screen with SERIOUS sound (and very comfy chairs - long film is *long*) yesterday afternoon. Wow, possibly one of the most beautiful cinema experiences I've had this year. If you've never seen the film, block off half a day, find the best home cinema set up (blu-ray would be a must) and enjoy.

Yes, it has flaws (no women characters at all, some 'questionable' casting calls) but still it's a corker of a film. And I might have to go find the Lawrence/Ali slash on AO3 when I'm not so run over with fic... *sheepish*

The UK has already had it's first snow - '3 hours 20 minutes journey time to work' is all I will say on the matter. My usual commute? 45-60 minutes, albeit dependent on traffic. Yup.

* * *

So, that's my news - what's yours?

I'm going to second Den Of Geek's warning here... Don't watch this in a public place, *especially* if you had an 'allergic' reaction to The Angels Take Manhattan. I didn't but I did to this.

The less said about today's teaching sessions, the better. Six classes, seven flouncers, four v. supportive colleagues (and counting), two students defending me and one very sore voice.

Yeah, it's been a hell of a day. Bring on the weekend and the family DRAHMAZ (It's Shinzon's birthday today, there will be picspam) and his party is at ours on Sunday. Perhaps it will be okay...

Which it is - yes, I came that close to binning over 2,000 words of my [livejournal.com profile] secret_mutant story again. Also? the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide mantra of 'Optional Details Are Optional' should apply to all the damn ficathons!

In happier news - Written? Kitten! is hewn from 100% *awesome*

*

If you have been having issues with LJ - they are aware of it

*

New Promo images from John Carter (of Mars). This is being directed by Andrew Wall.E Stanton. Which, trust me, is more than reason enough to watch this film. Having read the (first) book, I am glad to see this guy made the cut. Zie is awesome.

*

When the 'official' announcements were made regarding Bond 23 aka Skyfall, the characters that some of the actors would be playing were not noted. Even so, it was teased that these would be known to people who had read the books. In that vein, Ben Whishaw will be 'Q'. If he says *that* line, made famous by the late, great Desmond Llewellyn, I will be a very happy monster indeed.

*

20 of the Muppets greatest hits. Let's not discuss how much I envy everyone who has gotten to see this so far. February is too damn far away. < /sulk>

*

I've only seen THREE movies this month. Which by my standards is appalling But I have finally met my nephew - warning: cute baby. So, there is balance (and also Wednesday).

Also, I have written over 100 words every day and blogged every day. The new 'high-speed' (i.e. the damn thing goes and I can watch trailers in almost real-time) t'internet may not approve but hey!;) Need to keep going until, yes, you've guessed it... WEDNESDAY!

In other RL news - I have nearly all my Christmas presents 'sorted' bar one. And by 'sorted', I mean, I either have purchased them/know what to buy them and will purchase as soon as funds/time become available. This is nearly unheard of.

Next thing you know, I will be posting my 'manoeuvres' for December/January and by manoeuvres I mean what I am going to see at the BFI and when. Consider that a warning;)

So, beloved flist - Any good news to share?

Pinning this here for further perusal - Diigo.

Seeing as I've had to help 'firefight' a major systems change at work, I think I can safely say that Delicious?

U R DOING IT WRONG!

Unless someone tells me different - I am going to have to sort through 5 years/2,700 odd links and put them into You Tube style 'playlists' - in order to find a frakking thing. With no opt out and no overlap of service from one to another... If I was being *paid* it would be the work of a few days - as it is....

Oh and these 'playlists' look like they're going to be public by default... Even with the 'Church/State' divide between personal and professional that I do my damndest to cultivate - there is crap on there that means diddly squiffy to anyone but me. And I want to keep it that way.

Oy vey.

Oh and they're digging up the road outside of work. So much for 'Silence in the Library'!

EDIT - Pinboard and lookee - Delicious have roused the Librarian brotherhood of mutants Profession as well - 28 Alternatives to Delicious

I ain't ded (but home internet is doing a good impression of a Norwegian Blue), work is driving me more crazy than usual (yes, it *is* that bad) but there is also this:

Dr Brian May (CBE, Astrophysist and guitarist of 'some' repute) talking about his dear friend Freddie

I read an article that wondered what Freddie would have been doing if he hadn't passed away, twenty years ago in November it only seems like a few years ago..... One thing I am *sure* he would have been doing... showing the pretenders and whippersnappers - how it is really done.

And I would be in the audience singing my heart out (along with quite a few others, I am sure). Many happy returns Freddie. You were truly one of a kind.

Bad Things
What cheese goes best with whine? )

Seeing the Yogi Bear trailer at the cinema last night. Baby Jesus wept.

***

Good Things
I have taken the first steps in dealing with a financial matter I have been meaning to sort out for a while. This is good as once this is done I can finally get on with the *big* plan of leaving home and getting a place of my own.

I have finished the first draft of my Inception Santa story. \o/! It needs work but that can wait until I have the DVD in my little paws (next week - eeee!)

Saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Pt 1 last night. I haven't seen the last (two?) and I haven't read DH since it came out in 2007. This may go some way to explaining why I thought it was okay.

three (shallow) things I liked )

So, that's me - hope you guys are having a better time of it than me.
