Daft questions (x2)

Daft Question the First

What does the word 'meta' mean when discussing a concept like a specific show or fandom? I know what it means when used in a longer word (e.g. 'metamorphosis') but not in this instance.

Dictionary.com is unhelpful in this matter, and I doubt that the OED will be able to help (but I will enquire when I get home) so I am invoking the second rule of librarianship and asking for help (rule one - know where the loos/photocopiers/fire exits/computers/change machines are!)

Daft Question the Second
Given that I have posted the WIP list (see earlier post), would people be interested in seeing what I am writing so far? I don't mean the short stuff, but the stuff that I know is going to be at least 25,000 words long (at this moment - that means 'Tok'ra Queens...')?

It won't be beta'ed (those who have beta'ed for me will tell you - I am a holy horror at finishing off my stories. I despair) but being a total feedback ho...;)
The posts will be flocked btw. I refuse to inflict my raw work on an unsuspecting populace. There is enough badfic out there as it is thank you very much;)

The management would like to thank you for your assistance in this matter

For me meta means "additional information". So in fandom it is chat that doesn't deal with specific fanfiction, screencaps etc., but with stuff like fandom history, essays about canon/fanon, slash theory... But maybe I've simply misunderstood something *coughs*

Oooo greetings to you, new person! A name I do not recognise;) Please, pull up a pew, make yourself comfortable...

Thanks for that - it makes sense now. Will have to try and work it into a conversation sometime;) Scare the heck outta everyone... hee!
