Films watched in 2007
Jan. 3rd, 2007 07:14 pmCasino Royale - The last line says it ALL!
The Devil Wears Prada - pretty clothes and a good performance by Streep and... that's it!
Casablanca - Perfect in nearly every way.
Hot Fuzz - If I see a film that's as funny as this all year, then I'll consider myself blessed.
Dreamgirls - wonderful film and proof that Simon Cowell knows diddly!
Becoming Jane - An intriguing look at how real life could have influenced fiction
300 - At best, it's a damn sight better than Sin City. At worst, destructo-porn.
Meet The Robinsons - Pretty, pretty design, even if the story was a bit meh.
Sunshine - Whoa... weird, wonderful and downright scary! Certainly a film of the year.
Curse of the Golden Flower - visually astounding, emotionally unengaging
Forbidden Planet - great film which laid the blueprint for the genre.
Singing in the Rain - One of the all time great films, evar!
Spiderman 3 - Nowhere near as good as 2 but slightly better than X3 (which still sucks like a Dyson!)
Flash Gordon - Great film despite the pink tinge and a different cut to the usual one.
Casino Royale - I officially love this film. The end.
Pirates of the Carribean - At Worlds End - It puts Dead Man's Chest into perspective and is a fitting end.
North By Northwest - A classic deserved of the name and how that suit stayed so pristine was a miracle;)
Ocean's Thirteen - Just what I needed. And someone tell me I'm not the only one to see slash?
Dumbo - Wonderful film but I'll be singing 'When I see an elephant fly' for weeks!
Fantastic Four:Rise of the Silver Surfer Better than the first film but still with one major flaw. Jessica Alba may be pretty but she sure as hell can't act!
The Red Shoes Marty Scorsese loves this movie. Who am I to argue as it is made of awesome.
Shrek The Third The first film was made of awesome. This is not.
Tell No One (Ne Le Dis A Personne) American Book, French Film, highly entertaining.
Die Hard 4.0 Schtuff went boom. Plot nicked from Goldeneye. And I spotted both Tuvok and the dad from Whale Rider too!
Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix Am I a bad fan because I can't remember for the life of me what goes on in the book? It looked good and Young!Snape was cute.
Guys and Dolls I do love a good musical and dear lord wasn't Brando a hottie when he was younger?!
The Godfather I can see why this is rated as a classic. Not a favourite but certainly a classic.
Spellbound What do Mr Waverly and Dali have in common?, They're both in this superb movie (in a manner of speaking;))
Transformers Made of awesome! Most of the humans I could take or leave (apart from Sam) - but the robots were just made of 100% win!
Goldfinger Arguably the *third* greatest Bond film ever (Goldeneye and Casino Royale are, ihmo, better). The digital presentation and restoration is magnificent
Hairspray I've never seen the original, but if it's as good as this, then... I'll get to it right away. Superb!
Brief Encounter They certainly don't make them like this anymore. A beautiful glimpse into a bygone age.
Tales of Earthsea A Studio Ghibli film, not to the same standard as some of their other fare, but still a good film. How it compares to the books, I can't say.
Waitress A film of the year. Sweet, sad, tart, funny and that's just the bits without Captain Tightpants! If you can finish this movie and not crave desserts, then you're a better person than me!
2001: A Space Oddessy I saw this at Somerset House. Proof that 2000 odd people can be silent as mice if needed. Hard seat but great movie (apart from the wtf? stuff!)
Henry V (the Olivier version) A leetle bit too stagey but still very very good.
Stardust Not exactly perfect but still a lot better than most films this year. Now can we have a 'Death' movie please?!
The Bourne Ultimatum The Waterloo stuff freaked me out and the shakycam made me ill but still a good film.
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes Made of Awesome. 'Anyone for Love' is just... hawt!
Ratatouille - Perfection. A (if not, the) movie of the year. Wall-E looks awesome.
The Wicker Man Creepy, eerie and Christopher Lee looks good in a kilt.
Transformers I still love this film, despite it's (humans!) flaws. The end.
The Sound of Music I hate to say this but... this left me cold.
Shoot 'em up Does what it says on the tin.
Ratatouille Can they please put Pixar on the NHS? One watch of this can cure colds!or at least make you feel so good you don't care anymore!
Day Watch (Dnevnoy Dozor) Utterly bonkers and utterly brilliant. In the top ten for the year.
In The Shadow Of The Moon Documentary of the Year. An American achievement, A British film team and a story for all humankind. Magnificent.
Lust, Caution (Se, Jie) Long, mannerly and lots of sex, might work for another film but not for Ang Lee.
Dracula ('58 version) Oh Christopher Lee, how awesome are you? Ditto Peter Cushing!
Ratatouille Still one of the best films of the year. I am hoping that Wall.e will be just as wonderful.
Blade Runner: The Final Cut A true classic, in every sense of the word. Even if it was inspired by Hartlepool!
Beowulf Impressive and yes, the glasses can fit over glasses!
Enchanted What a lovely film (and I mean that in the most unironic way possible). Loved it!
Blade Runner: The Final Cut I love this movie, even when it means coming home at 1.30am. The End.
