If nobody else mentions the fact that I'm over a week late posting this, then neither will I.

Um - HAI!;)

So - without further ado...

A List of Things that were classifed as being Made of Awesome for January

- Doctor Who: End of Time Part II

- Introducing friends from different 'parts' of my life to each other... and no one ran away screaming (apart from my mascara - which is another story altogether!)

- Matthew Bourne's 'Swan Lake' - pretty men dancing to *beautiful* music never gets old!

- Being Human I have so much love for this series, it's becoming a little scary making - in a good way, mind;)

- The Mayor of Castro Street - The Life and Times of Harvey Milk, written by Randy Shilts. An excellent biography and a good starter on modern gay history. If anyone has any good recommendations for further reading - please share!

- Going to see La Cage Aux Folles again. Different cast this time around (Denis Lawson and Douglas Hodge as George and Albin/Zaza). Still a wonderful musical and who knew *Wedge Antillies* could sing?!

Thing One - changed the default icon in honour of last night's episode of Doctor Who. If you want to see it as a spoiler then... that's your prerogative.

Thing Two - [livejournal.com profile] torn_eledhwen meet [livejournal.com profile] vayshti. [livejournal.com profile] vayshti, meet [livejournal.com profile] torn_eledhwen. You met yesterday at the Who viewing? Now you can put names to faces;)

Thing Three - Anyone have any recommendations for good waterproof mascara - or at least stuff that doesn't make you look like a raccoon when you cry? Not that such things ever happen to me... like hell it doesn't!

I'll talk about last night's Doctor Who more later. Along with the usual rubbish that's all part of the service;)

I was going to talk about this piece of news, not unexpected to be sure but I think I have said everything that I want to say on the matter already.

Then I saw sense and decided that Life? Is Too Damn Short. So, have a list of things that have been classified as being awesome in the month just gone.

Writing over 10,000 words for [livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo - I have one story ready to go (once I've finished the beta *iz sheepish*) and my wips are still going strong.

Seeing Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan on the big screen.

Going to see La Cage Aux Folles.

Meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] torn_eledhwen after a gap of nearly three years for aforementioned trip to the theatre... and having a fabulous time, catching up, having dinner and watching a wonderful show.

Posting more days than not to my LJ

Doctor Who: Waters of Mars

Sundry youtube videos: this one, which made me laugh like a drain, this one in which spotty shorts and sports socks look kinda hot and don't blame me if the song gets stuck in your head;)

So - time to open this up. Either in your own ljs or here, post something - anything that's happened to you in the last month that you'd classify as being awesome. Doesn't have to be a list, just one thing. For while we all concentrate on the mundane, it's the awesome that's worth remembering.

Apart from getting paid today - parts of my day have *sucked* like a damn black hole. So counteract the suck - I bring a list of things that are just *awesome*

A 'Doctor Who' Picspam, emphasising the use of colour in the new series for the [livejournal.com profile] picspammy challenge.
This runs the rainbow from red to violet and it is beautiful. Incredibly image heavy but worth the bandwidth.

FIC - 'Monsters Vs Aliens' by Salieri [livejournal.com profile] troyswannTorchwood/Being Human

Yes, Ianto and George meet - the universe does not explode with the awesomeness (which it would - because!) but this fic is filled with it. Everyone is in character and utterly wonderful.

Courtesy of Flickfilosopher. The Many and Varied Adventures of Nigel the Charity Pig around and about the UK.

Will someone please put both John Barrowman and Pixar on the NHS? Because they both make life all that more wonderful just by being.
To whit: Two videos of John talking about Torchwood, Doctor Who and La Cage Aux Folles

I can't speak to the content (bloody internet connection!) but he's wearing a short sleeved shirt (hummina!) and yes... it's John Barrowman for heavens sake... Who I get to see in La Cage Aux Folles on 7th November along with [livejournal.com profile] torn_eledhwen. I'm really looking forward to it!

Which, of course is going to be the date the BBC choose to air 'Waters of Mars'... but that's what BBC iPlayer is for;) No confirmation yet - but knowing *my* luck...;p

So, over to you guys?. Any awesomeness to add to that collected above?

W00t! Huzzah! Whatever it is the Marines say (lookit... can I help it if I get hopelessly distracted by the loveliness that is Mark Harmon?! Especially if either Messers Wetherly or McCallum are onscreen too?) Is now a good time to mention the uniform kink?
Didn't think so!

Onto things that make me extremely happy this gloomy day.

- Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] saladscream. You are a goddess of the beta and of the manip. Let no one else tell you otherwise.

- Jen (aka [livejournal.com profile] surrealphantast) wins at life for the best post I've read in a long while. Which can be read here.
I especially liked the comments about her life. Mine is pretty similar... apart from the comment about SG-1 having sex. In my head it's Tony and Kate having a very 'bizzare' conversation as to which of their closest allies and co-workers they'd sleep with. Alas, Agent Fornell of the FBI doesn't stand a snowballs in comparison to Assistant Director Skinner.

- Comment of the day comes from the god of tv writing Russell T Davis, stating (at the Torchwood press conference) that the only reason why John Barrowman (the incredibly wonderful and hawt Captain Jack Harkness from both Doctor Who and Torchwood) landed the latter because he was so good in bed!
The Daily Mail's attendant journo was the only one who didn't laugh at that. For the benefit of my American flisters... it's a very conservative (in both senses of the word) newspaper. Dubya would highly approve!

- Already mentioned elsewhere but I'll reccie this - TWOP have recapped the magnificent Doctor Who episode 'School Reunion'. It's full of poetry (Dang you, Jacob - reference, man! Reference!!) but the last page had me in tears. I LOVE this episode so much it's scary and Jacob's recap of the final scene in that episode is just utter class. Read the whole thing over here and he's right about the Roslin thing too;)

Right off to re-caffineate and then time to do that work thing;)

Do NOT... I repeat... DO NOT leave t'internet unattended for more than a couple of days because it tends to go just a bit haywire!
So may the 'verse help me when I go gallivanting off to Newcastle for (nearly) a week in August. Brighton in a few weeks time should be okay, but Ncl is going to be ebil!

Um... that's one of the things I've managed to get sorted while I was off doing 'other' things. Holidays!

Other things that have been sorted out:

The Professional Exams Issue is now classed as being a 'Herculean' task rather than 'Impossible'. It's all starting to make some kind of sense and with the professional body sending me the peice of paperwork that I really need to hang it on all on... It's becoming more likely that I might make my self imposed deadline!

'Life On Mars' rocks mightily. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good drama. Please, can someone produce an OST of the tracks used because... daymn! I might have only been a thought when the series is set (a March date was mentioned - my maths tell me that I was about three months off conception at that point!;)) but I love the music of that era.
Not forgetting that Tyler/Hunt must be the best partnership since O'Neill/Jackson or Fraser/Vecchio. No cute deaf wolf though.

Letting me loose in Borders is a Very Bad Thing - my 'to read' pile is about five books deep now.

I have a bunny brewing for a story ficathon that I *foolishly* signed up for. It's a story that I've been mulling over for a while, so hopefully it will do. Just got to get the damn thing onto paper! The muse is being.... *rolls eyes*
Volunteers for betas etc would be gratefully recieved!;)

Going to see 'Pirates of the Carribean' tomorrow with friends - which will be a lot of fun. For us that is, everyone else just has to put up with three lovely ladies and a fluffmonster talking up a storm!

Before I go tackle my e-mail list (shudders), a non-spoiler word about tonight's Doctor Who. I didn't cry... I just had something in my eye. That is all!;)

First up... Can I just wish a very good friend a happy birthday?

HAPPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] _minxy_

Hope you have a very good one and a great year filled with wonderful things... starting with a successful defence!

Secondly - I am so far behind in my reviews, it's not even funny anymore! So to make amends - I will round up everything I've seen (either on DVD or Cinema) recently in a sentence. Or two;)

X-Men: The Last Stand - It sucked like a Dyson

Bleak House - By the same adapter as the '95 version of 'Pride and Prejudice' and yes, it is just as good. Stand out performances by Gillian 'Agent Scully' Anderson and Denis 'Wedge Antillies and Ewan McGregor's uncle' Lawson.

The Fast and The Furious: Toyko Drift - I have no taste and the lead has delusions of being Ben Browder when he grows up.

Howls Moving Castle - very pretty but I fear that I was missing something. Answers on a postcard please to the usual address!

A History of Violence - Beautiful and highly disturbing all at the same time.

Over the Hedge - By the same company as 'Madagascar' and 'Shrek'. Save your money - rent these two instead, you'll have more fun!

Doctor Who (S2) - Army of Ghosts OMGWTFPOLARBEAR!!!

X-Files S2 and (early) 3 - Gods help me, I'm falling in love with this show. The bunnies are circling and the voices are telling me there is no guilt in watching SGA simply to lust after Mitch Pileggi in a flight suit!

So - there you go, me up to date on the reviews front. I'll save my news for another post.

Still alive!

Cold is on it's way out. The eye is still a bit 'weird' but it's not a hindrance(touchwood it gets better).

BSG rocks like the entire damn Jurassic Period. Just re-watched 'Scattered' as part of the Sky broadcast on the parents big ass telly downstairs. Goddess bless teh internet truck but daymn it don't half look good on a 'proper' telly.

Still haven't seen either of the SGs yet.

One fly in the ointment - the new Patrick Stewart show 'The Eleventh Hour' is being shown on Thursdays at 9pm. I swears the frakkers do it it annoy the hell outta me!;)

Serkit message to [livejournal.com profile] torn_eledhwen - River Woman is back in London! She's on the e-mail etc and she's in good health and happy. Teh boyz are fine but there has been a lot of schtuff going on - but it's all come to a happy/good conclusion!

You thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?...

And on that note - my bed is yelling my name... and I am too damn tired to refuse it's siren holler. Take care peeps and speak soon (with reviews I promise!)... once the muse calms down a little:D
