2012 has been, in the words of Charles Dickens, the best of times and the worst of times could have been better of times. I just hope for all concerned that 2013 performs slightly better;)

Part of me wishes I was still up there ('A Matter of Life and Death' is showing today and I'm missing it :pout:) but I'm back from a wonderful holiday in the fair city of Edinburgh!

Weather was amazingly good (it's a British thing!), the city is gorgeous, the people lovely and friendly. Lots to see, lots to do and I had a blast!

Oh and go see 'Serenity' when it opens. Trust me on this!

A more in-depth report will follow, hopefully with pretty pictures (one hopes!) along with reviews of 'Serenity'. No, that's not a typo. There will be a non-spoiler one from a cinema 'geek' perspective and a spoilery one from the perspective of a fan of the show (hidden behind a cut of course!)

So I hope all are well and I shall endeavour to get on with that as soon as possible. Once I've 'battled' through the 4 pages of flist and 250 odd e-mails!

Okay folks - the bags are packed... I am ready for Edinburgh tomorrow!

'Serenity' is Monday night and I'm back home on Tuesday. I've packed a pad and a pen (or three) so hopefully the muse will come with and I'll write a kind of a diary to regale you all with my exploits when I get home.

Oh and if any of my SG-flist find a nice icon of Camulus (preferably from the scene in 'New Order pt2' when he's sitting on the bed...) can you point me at it?!
No reason!;)

Okay - t-minus 36 hours (ish!) 'til I ship off out to Edinburgh.

The suitcase is packed - still wondering if I should do some last minute laundry to pack another pair of pants - lord knows I've got enough knickers in there! And enough shirts! And two jackets! I have almost everything else I need - am dithering about taking my own towel... will consult with wiser beings than me tomorrow... Namely my Mum who's birthday it is today!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!

We went out for a pub lunch near the local river - saw swans (alas not the nekkid men type - daymn!) and large boats and got a sun-headache. Dinner was lovely - fish and chips, supposedly a small portion but it was HUGE! Guess who won't be needing to be fed again today!

News on the ongoing BSG and keyboard sagas...
According to a 'kosher' looking site - Sky have announced that BSG will be part of their 'Autumn' slate - which I'm taking to be anytime from about September 21 onwards (or thereabouts) wouldn't you? Which will contradict another source (TV Zone) that's saying JANUARY.
If the latter is correct - fire up them thar torrents! More as I get it.

Keyboard - the cat had a run in with the local moggie mafia. He's been limping badly for the last couple of days, but he's better now... You could call it karma but I'm not that cruel.

Also phoned Toshiba - they can fix it, but it does mean replacing the whole keyboard (it IS a laptop!) which is going to cost at least £15 (plus labour and taxes) which means if I get change out of £50 I'll count myself lucky! I'll phone them when I get back from Edinburgh - gives me time to prep the 'puter before hand.
Not that there is anything incriminating on here but... I don't want some engineer reading through my J/D smut thank you very much!

Um yeah... Remember I mentioned on Friday that I had tried to get tickets for the World Premiere of Serenity in Edinburgh and had failed miserably?!
I didn't fail. I have one.

I'M GOING TO THE WORLD PREMIERE OF 'SERENITY' ON 8/22!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that Joss Whedon is going to be there, but no news as to the rest of the cast... If Sean Maher is there I promise that I won't pounce on him.. I'll behave myself (even if he's wearing a kilt!) OMFG!!!

So yes... I'm going! And I can't f*cking believe it!! Everything is booked in, hotel (which was a bit of tricky as it's slap bang in the middle of the Edinburgh Festival!) , travel, ticket. All I gotta do is go! And get a refund on the two tickets for Wednesday that I purchased by mistake... I'll keep you posted on those... If I can't get them refunded I might put them out for sale - cost and postage to the lists I'm on, so if you know anyone who'd like to go and can get there...;)

So yeah... I'm going!!

In the grand scheme of things - today wasn't a bad day. Stuff got done and things were sorted out. Admittedly I was hoping to squee over the fact that I would be buggering off to Edinburgh for a couple of days next month to
a) visit a city that I've been meaning to go to since library school

b) attend the World Premiere of 'Serenity' (the film based on 'Firefly')

c) trap for myself a Camulus clone (evil b*stard parasite NOT included!;))

But alas b) fell through quite spectacularly and I'm not going, or at least not this side of the Festival... So I'm one rather honked off monster right now.

Anyway... to atone for this and in an effort to coax back my muse (last seen heading towards my male beta's or the last known position of the Andromeda Ascendant.... long story!;)) I present a story that's been sitting on my hard drive for a while that I quite like... a lot.

It's set around the Matrix Reloaded and its... *different*. For me anyway. It's HET, 18 rated and it involves Trinity and someone else...;)
