Yes, seen Avengers Assemble and deemed it to be the best Marvelverse movies so far. Nolan's Bat and the Mutants (1, 2 and First Class) still have the edge, mind.

Other than that - it's Hand In Week this week - so I am keeping out of *everyone's* way. Trust me, it's safer for all that way.

Usually, I wouldn't have anything to do with 'teasers of trailers' because - hand over the damn trailer and no one will get hurt but... there are about three films I will happily make an exception for - the aforementioned The Dark Knight Rises is one. As for number three - it's the prequel of the film that was unleashed onto a (mostly) unsuspecting public ten years ago today. The Hobbit. That trailer is due 'soon', if I hear correctly. Don't worry, I'll post spam it as soon as I have a link;)

Last day of mini_nanowrimo for 2011 - 416 words. I have no *idea* what my total for the month is - apart from A LOT. But I did it and I am hoping to keep up the good work as there is still much to be done.

As already noted - I've only seen three films this month - reviews will be forthcoming but in happier news, December should be more 'fruitful'. Not least because I've booked to go see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol at BFI IMAX just after Christmas. Three good guesses - and the first two don't count!.

Also in 'It-was-kinda-obvious-but-thanks-for-the-confirmation!' news 20th Century Fox confirm sequels to both Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and X-Men: First Class. Naturally there might have been a very loud 'woo hoo' over the latter.

So - yes, this is playing in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2 at present. I haven't seen it yet (not for want of trying!) and it has now been unleashed onto t'internet for general perusal.

Between this and The Hobbit the squee will be strong over the next 18 months.... And now, I will go reply up a storm to recent posts. And not watch and re-watch the above teaser Honest!

Don't mind me, just wallowing in the fact that a) it was on a silver platter and b) the pairing I have been secretly fond of since before the first damn movie is totes frickin CANON even though the baby!versions are amazingly pretty - they will never be as gorgeous as they will be when they get older oh and unlike the last film I fell hopelessly in love with *cough*Inception*cough* - there is a *lot* of fic about said pairing - which makes me very gleeful.

Full review at some point, but I am so pulling out the first two for a re-watch!

2011 Oscar Nominations

Things AMPAS got right:
127 Hours nominated for Best Picture. Ditto James Franco in the Best Actor category for the same film.

Helena Bonham Carter nominated for The King's Speech - her performance was as good as Firth's in that film.

Christian Bale for The Fighter - I haven't seen it yet but Christian Bale is an awesome actor whom I've loved since Equilibrium

Toy Story 3 gets a nod in the Adapted Screenplay category.

Hans Zimmer's soundtrack for Inception being nominated. That CD leaves my car over my cold dead bod.


Things AMPAS got wrong
Christopher Nolan not being nominated for Best Director. What (or who) does he have to do to get nominated?

Inception not being nominated for Best Editing (a must have to stand a snowballs of getting Best Picture)

No nomination for music *or* for SFX for Tron: Legacy. You can say what you like about that film I won't be listening to you but those were two of it's strengths.

No costume nomination for The Black Swan. It's a superb film (review to follow!) and while I can understand that Clint Mansell's score is ineligible (seriously - it's Pop Will Eat Itself Does Tchaikovsky - in a good way) but that's going too far.

So - in short... same stupidity, different year.
