Somewhere in the world, it's tomorrow. And boy did the 'boom' happen. As ever, Gibbs Rule #3 applies (don't believe what you've been told, check!) Even so, the usual caveats apply. The only stuff that gets locked around here are usually rl related. So if you're here for the squee, that won't get flocked.

Talking of squee... I need to pick the collective braaaaains of my flist. I've been meaning to put together a bank of picspam, for occasions such as this. Provide (okay... try!) some light and pretty into the angst and wank. So... so far, I have the following as suggestions...

Teh Pretteh ranging from Ianto (Torchwood) to Ducky (NCIS) and everybody I can think of in between. Emphasis on the boys men, but there will be ladies too.

Photographs Mine mostly, (at least I won't have to worry about the copyright!) of pretty places in the UK. Gateshead Angel, Edinburgh Scott Monument, Brighton Beach, the view from Jubilee Bridge over the River Thames... that sort of thing.

Kittens because who can resist cute kitties?! Especially if there is a hawt Timelord with them too?;)

So - any other good suggestions, flist?

In other matters - I am on an organizational kick. Consider this your three minute warning;)

Mainly what I have done is tidy up my flist. I unsubbed from comms that I wasn't watching/interested in and de-flisted people who either don't post or have anything to say that I am interested in reading.

Conversely, if this applies to anyone on my flist - feel free to unflist me. As I've already said, only RL stuff tends to get flocked (and 9 times outta 10, that's about work!) so I won't be offended. Fannishly, I have upped sticks from Cheyenne Mountain to Washington D.C., if this isn't your cuppa tea, then thank you for reading and hope you're in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead (blessing from the old country;))

I have also flisted some folk who have flisted me - I apologise for my tardiness. As I said, on an organzational kick over here!

Still on the organizational kick - will be signing up with the Netflix clone tomorrow. I have the following shows earmarked for inclusion on the list:

all on the list, along with a couple of movies that I missed due to Not Being Organized Enough. So, the question is this - anything else of interest that should be on that list?

Any reasonable suggestion entertained;) Man from UNCLE is going to be purchased with tomorrow's paycheck. Though suggestions for which one to start with will be lovely. I got very p*ssed off at Napoleon very quickly last time. Not even the loveliness of a certain blond scot hottie could stop that.

Favourite 'joke' of the evening has to be the marketing heavyweights hired to 'chase the elusive and much coveted young male demographic' for fanfic and specifically for Fanlib.

I'm only a librarian, but even I remember from my marketing lectures, all those years ago, that the first thing you do... know your market. To quote a small green wise dude "That is why you fail."

Okay - 12 hour shift tomorrow. My bed is whispering seductively about sleep and lovely things like that.

To stop me from being the whiny bitch I have been of late (partly because of that time of the month... my apologies to any fragile flowers/men reading this!) and because as I have said before... here at becky_monster it is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllll about the squee!

- Tonight's episode of Doctor Who
I won't spoil for those of you feverishly waiting for the... 'internet truck' to pull up outside of your abodes;) but... ensure it has the trailer at the end. Trust me, you are going to want to see this. There was squee. Oh dear lordyloo, there was squee! Put it this way... I think I can countenance the two week wait now. Not easily, but I can do it.

Addendum to the above: Murray Gold's music is just made of awesome. Why, yes, I have just picked up the cd and it's a thing of beauty.

- The fact that I have both NCIS S3 and Life on Mars S1 on DVD
Guaranteed to keep me quiet for a good couple of days. Not to mention that whomever did the artwork for the S3 boxset loves me and wants me to be happy.... The (pretty pretty!) cast all done up James Bond stylee (always a winner!), the pictures of MH and MW on the cover of the 1st dvd with open collar dress shirts (hubba hubba!) and two pictures of Ducky on the back... one in a scene with Gibbs that made me just think 'old married love!'.

- Did I mention that I don't go back to work until Tuesday?
I love bank holidays! And there's another one at the end of the month too!

- I have a new bag
And it is just totally dorktastic!. Is now a good time to say that I collect handbags? Thought so;) You can see it here. To anyone who wants to point out the frelling obvious (re: physical age and mental age)... No apologies!

- A wonderful person wrote ME 'cheer up emomonster!' fic!! \o/
The wonderful person being wiccagirl24 and she wrote this lovely ficlet. Ducky and Fornell are concerned about Gibbs and Lt Col 'Barbie'. Great character voices and very plausible, seeing as both have known Gibbs for a verrrry long time! I am so pleased!

Go, read, leave feedback and tell her what a lovely story it is and that she should write more.

I'm writing 'The Shipping Forecast' after I finish 'How To Save A Life'. I cracked the intro yesterday. I am most pleased! (now if Jenny and Ducky will decide on their topics to discuss, then it will be gold) Nobody will read it, but what the hey...;)

On a 'lighter' note - I heard the British entry to the Eurovision Song Contest this morning... yup, the event that means that Doctor Who has been put back a week. My take? Break out the brain bleach. I love cheesy pop as much as the next girl but this was beyond cheese. It was just awful. And to make matters worse... according to Terry Wogan (who commentates for the UK) it's one of the better entries!

To sum up - am tired, cranky and want to go home. Send chocolate, tea and Ducky/Gibbs STAT!

- The new 'update journal' layout is... interesting! Hopefully it will mean that I can update on Firefox on Mithy (he be the home compy - I name things alright?!) without having to upload then go back in to edit, so I can choose another icon!

- I have the family christmas shopping complete! *winz*

- I haven't sent any christmas cards yet *losez*

- I have broken the back of the ncis_tinsel fic. It might even make it in under 9,000 words! I have one more scene to write and the epilogue and I am finished! Wheeeeeeeee!!!

- Other things that might get broken quite soon - the Ebil Charter! I want to have something for my appraisal next week, thus I have been looking at a colleage's successful application and... it doesn't look as terrifying as I keep thinking it will be. I just have to be super organised and spend a mint in photocopying;)
I can do that;)

- Having Mithy (see above) on my lap during the NCIS double bill is A Very Good Idea. Anything to distract me from the same frakking adverts every single episode! As long as the Mother Unit doesn't realise that I'm writing porn all will be okay. I'm 80% sure she had a crush on David McCallum in his Man from U.N.C.L.E days but what she doesn't know won't get me shouted at;)

( I suck at being a girl. The chest bumps are there only for show.  )

To prove my 'not a girl' credentials (see above) - this came in the post yesterday. It is beyoootiful. Ditto the director, the leading man, the supporting 'love interest', the clothes... Whaaaa?!

It's Monday and already I'm completely befuddled!

To whit -

- A local store has NCIS Season 2' on sale. According to my 'supplier' and a goodly number of other suppliers... It's not due out until next Monday. Alas it's too damn expensive (try £12/$20 more expensive!) to do the 'damn it all to hecky!' thing and buy it now.

- Radio Times has the (majority) of the TV listings up for 22/10 (the day that Torchwood is due to start). Guess what - no sign of said show on BBC3. BBC1, however has a lot of 'To Be Announced' slots.

- Being the generous soul (read 'total sucker'!) I've stepped into cover a colleage's absence. Which means that I'm working until 9pm tonight.
Add in a Saturday shift this week and you're looking at someone who might as well bring her sleeping bag as well as her usual stuff!

- With the arrival of new Battlestar Galactica (huzzah!) on Skiffy (grrrr!) - Icons have started to appear - which invoke a name, I haven't heard before, 'Casey'. Perhaps I'm being too prissy (and the other spelling too;))about such things but... If she's a new character (and I guess she is)... MARK IT AS A FRAKKING SPOILER!! Some people Do Not Want To Know A Damn Thing before their carrier starts to show the new series. For better, or worse, I'm one of them.
Which means that it will be another comm off the flist before too long... oh joy:(

- Donations of chocolate and porn will be gratefully recieved!

Hundreds, nay thousands of new students come through the door and my colleages and I have to give them a tour.
If any of them remember a damn thing that's said to them by the day's end... then it's a miracle of biblical proportions!

If I'm doing the tour, then if they remember a damn thing half an hour later then... wow. I have a tendency to babble. I have a lot of information to cover in a very short time. That and I prattle terribly when I'm scared/worried/nervous.

Talking in front of five to fifteen complete strangers will do that to a girl;)

Once tomorrow's done - that's it over for another year....

Until the Nursing students decend on 10/17... all 340 odd of them!

*No news as to whether SKY will follow Skiffy's example and have a three month gap or just go straight through. Will keep informed.

- Those lovely people at play.com sent me S3 X-Files and S2 SG-1 - they so totally rock! Just don't ask about the two S2 boxsets... please!;)

- AD Skinner rocks, as well as being completely shaggable!... Um, did I say that out loud?:D

- My sister has lent me S1 House. Huzzah! I have DVDs enough to survive the sport onslaught for quite a while.

- Screenselect are sending me 'A History of Violence', 'Howls Moving Castle' and 'Bleak House' Disc 1... yes, I know I told them to take a hike but they offered 3 months for the price of one and being a bargain hunting ho with no brand loyalty... I caved. That and I have been looking to rent these DVDs since they came out (three-four months!)

- The reel_sga ficathon is posting and the Jack/Daniel ficathon (as hosted by the lovely greensilver) posts tomorrow. Good fic is always greatly welcomed.

- My ipod is dead. It is pining for the fjords. I am most p*ssed off.

- My sister's place is lovely. Right down to the honkin' great tv in the living room. But I have to finish my charter/go to NZ and save like it's going out of fashion (not to mention move 300 miles) to even have a hope of having something like that...

- I've no doubt eaten far too much this week, so if I lose tomorrow it's going to be a bloody miracle!

- Professional exams suck donkey testes.

- splash_the_cat is running a poll about starting up a LJ newsletter for SG-1. You can find the relevant post here. Please go along and express an opinion. Personally I think this is a great idea as it would advertise stories that I might not read because I don’t know that they are out there.
Then again, I’d have to put up with the Jack/Sam ‘tuw luv’ BS. Ah well, into every life a little rain and all that;)

here Not much in the way of spoilers, if at all. Even so, if you can read it and not jump to any slashy conclusions; you have my admiration!

- Via AICN’s Moriarty, some very interesting thoughts on the so-called next wave of DVD. From the New York Times (registration is needed, but if you’re interested; it’s worth it!) it discusses without hype what’s what.
Interesting to finally read that the new players *will* be backwards compatible i.e. that they’ll play ‘normal’ DVDs – phew! I have pushing 220 of the buggers - I cannot afford to replace 'em all!. On the downside, you’re going to need a bigass new player, which is the same size as a oldskool VCR and an equally huge HDTV to see any difference to the quality we get now.
Let’s not forget the whole HD/Blu Ray debacle – can you say VHS v Betamax?

On the ‘new tech’ theme – how’s this for a vote for common sense. The BPI will not go chasing after folks who rip CDs they own onto their MP3 players in the UK. That’s what I thought too… The BBC has more here

- The Football World Cup starts this weekend: Once I have written the review for the excellent ‘Once in a Lifetime’, a documentary about the New York Cosmos soccer team; this lj will become a football free zone.
No, I don’t think Ireland qualified this time around… does it show?
(Note - my father's family are Irish, ergo just to be awkward - I support Ireland!)

- Written about >2500 words since last Friday. Which is a very good thing; hoping to get something finished soon. The stories are called ‘Tea in Space’ and ‘Or would you prefer ferrets?’ Doctor Who and SG-1 respectively. There is a logic behind both titles, trust me on this.

- Can someone explain to me how I lost 2lbs in body weight between Friday and Tuesday? Not that I’m complaining, but I didn’t do anything to deserve it! Hell, ate like there was no tomorrow on Saturday (Lemon chicken and egg fried rice for dinner... mmmmmm;)) Hadn’t been swimming as the ebil cold decided that it liked my chest better than my nose – just shaking it now but…

- Is it wrong to want to watch ‘Stargate: Atlantis’ for the shallow reason of lusting over Mitch Pileggi? More commonly known as Assistant Director Walter Skinner from the ‘X-files’? We’re talking serious ‘guh’ territory here; in both shows. Who knew that flight suits could be so damn sexy? Though the shirt/tie/glasses combos from ‘X-Files’ will always win out.

- Am adding X-Files on DVD to the current list of TV obsessions. Currently on S2; waiting for the right time to re-watch ‘Fresh Bones’. This is the military voodoo one; which scared me silly when I first watched it at Uni all those years ago! Watching something similar in ‘Kill Bill pt 2’ was so enjoyable!;)
Again with the dirtybadwrong: the storymuse’s idea that Mulder should give Skinner a blowjob after his announcement about re-opening the X-files in ‘Duane Barry’. Bad muse – no biscuit!

My netflix clone has been sending me my top choices for a change, which is unnerving. Waiting for the other shoe to drop here… I think I can hear it clattering as we speak;)

Right – I have a general and an archaeologist to get drunk and try to have sex. Oh if only I could do that in RL!:D
