*I* try to predict the Oscars!

For those of you who don't care - read a 'nice' article from the Daily Moan (?!) It's worth reading just for his missus' 'initial' reading of his 'sexuality'...

Okay - on the whole - these will cover who I think will win. Not who I want to win (because in most categories - they're two totally different things) that is, of course, if they were *nominated* in the first place (paging Christopher Nolan!).

So - let's see how close to the mark I get.

BEST PICTURE
The King's Speech - I've spoken my piece and stand by it.

BEST DIRECTOR
David Fincher

BEST ACTOR
Colin Firth

BEST ACTRESS
Natalie Portman

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
Christian Bale (This is the one I am *rooting* for - Nolan won't be up on that stage tonight - but if this guy gets up there - I will be a mollified monster)

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Helena Bonham-Carter

BEST SCREENPLAY
adapted - The Social Network: Aaron Sorkin

original - The King's Speech: David Sendaris
By rights - this should be Chris Nolan's for the awesomeness that was Inception but it won't be. There will be other years for Nolan for the Academy to shut him out and ignore him as Sendaris has paid his 'dues' and waited out the Queen Mum and beaten cancer to get this far.

The Academy grok Sendaris' 'journey'. For Nolan to win - he'd have to come down to the Academy's level - which is something I hope he never does.

*Peers down at the soapbox that's appeared under her feet* - I wonder where that came from...

BEST SCORE
Alexander Desplat - The King's Speech

BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS
Inception (this is regarded as being Inception's for certain - hardly a surprise;))

BEST ANIMATED FILM
Toy Story 3 (This has nothing to do with my 'annoyance' at the the whole 'American' kids and 'Scottish' adults thing in How To Train Your Dragon - Pixar are usually unbeatable)

BEST SOUND (two catergories)
INCEPTION for both.

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY
True Grit - this is Roger Deakin's NINTH nomination - someone please give him the award?.

BEST EDITING
INCEPTION - okay, okay! The King's Speech (Lee Smith wasn't even nominated grumblegrumblesnarl!) This is important as every film that has won this has won the Best Picture Oscar for at least the last 15 years (or more)

BEST ART DIRECTION
The King's Speech

I've left out 'Song', 'Documentary', 'Foreign Language' and 'Shorts' catergories as I haven't got the first idea (and even the third or fourth is usually *wrong*!) so, if anyone wants to guess - be my guest!

So - there you go. Knowing my luck - I've gone and jinxed nearly everyone I've noted in these catergories (in some cases - this is a good thing, others - not so much!) Anyway - I'll be watching tomorrow morning (UK time) so I'll see how right (or wrong!) I was.

Thoughts?

I agree with nearly all of these. OK, not sure about Best Editing - I reckon that will go to something like Inception.
