Dear Yuletide Santa/Writer/Goat

Dear Awesome Person
Yes, dear recipient of my Yuletide requests – I am talking to *YOU*. You are (hopefully!) going to write me an awesome story about the films and book that I love and adore more than cake. Ergo, you are awesome, QED.
If you are reading this because you are pinch-hitting – then the above goes for you as well – with bells on.
Please feel free to have a nosey around my journal to get a feel for me and my tastesinanities. I love and adore films - which will explain why all my requests are movies (or have been adapted into one this year!).
You'll find the tags of some use - the general 'movies' tag especially. Also, I'll throw in links for each relevant fandom.
If that's too 'general' then let me eludicate for you... *ahem*
I like a lot of things but there are a few hard and fast things I Do Not Like. They are:
Character death, kink, humiliation, partner betrayal, character bashing (especially women characters) porn minus plot, dark themes. Fluffy monster is so *fluffy* you're gonna die (Despicable Me quote ftw!)
Okay - so, things I *do* like:
Plot, character-led stories, friendships, alternative realities where one thing changes, hugs/cuddling, women characters being awesome and competent, teams equaling families, happy(ish) endings, conversations/banter, films, kisses, laughter, humour, science, teamwork, adventures, slice of life, dancing, joy, life...
If you want to go down the sexyteims route (and given that at least three of my fandoms have some of the most beautiful people on the planet - knock yourself out!) - sensuality is key as is emotional engagement and consent among adults too.
Note – as the ratings have been disabled this year – if you, awesome writer, can’t ‘do’ romance (het, slash or poly as the prompt suggests - or not) I would lovelovelove (more than cake!) Gen fic.
Most of all, I want you to have as much fun writing as I will have reading what you create.
I hope that makes some kind of sense - if not, ask the mods (or a hippo!) to ask me for more intel.
So - the fandoms:
JANE EYRE – CHARLOTTE BRONTEJane Eyre @ Wikipedia
While I am asking for the novel, it’s inclusion is movie related – I fell in love with Cary Fukunaga’s film. This led me to re-read and again fell in love with the original novel. Which I first read when I was 16 and have re-read a number of times over the years!
Characters – I’ve asked for Jane and Rochester because, for me, it’s always been about Jane. She spoke to me as a dorky teen and she still speaks to me now. About being true to oneself and one’s desires and not letting society make the choices for you. Their relationship is possibly one of the only het pairings I love and adore in literature – slasher ‘til I *die*;)
One paragraph stuck out to me when re-reading this year – Jane dreamed of Rochester – adventurous dreams. I’d like to read about one of those dreams. In my copies (yes, I have two.) Jane speaks of them here: (both UK) Penguin ed. 1985 - Chapter 32 p. 391 and Penguin ed. 2011 Book 3 Chapter 6 p. 481. YMMV.
If you want to go surrealist (I adore Dali’s work), Jungian or heck– go on an Inception kick (sic), (it was my favourite film of 2010, so you won’t hear any complaints from me;)) have at it. Just have fun with it.
Other suggestions – a scene from the month long courtship. Something loving and light? Or what about Jane discovering a rather ‘saucy’ (raunchy, risque, etc.) book in Rochester’s library (from his time on the Continent) – she’s sheltered but not utterly innocent, thus her curiosity gets the better of her and she reads it (she notes that Rivers would likely pursue ‘all the forms of love’ should she marry him) – what is her reaction? Is she shocked? Does she already thing think about Rochester that way... go play!
SUNSHINE (2007) Sunshine (2007) @ IMDB
aka - the sci-fi movie that is so damn sexy even the Science Advisor is considered to be quite the pin up here in the UK.
(This is copy and pastaed from last year – this film needs more love, damnit!)
Before I get onto the suggestions proper - video of Danny Boyle (Sunshine's director) and Professor Brian Cox (Sunshine's science advisor) talking about making the movie and working with the cast. Well worth a watch if you like the movie -and some day someONE will write RPS about the long drunken night Prof Cox had with Cillian Murphy discussing the final scene where it looks like Capa having the mother of all orgasms!... what?!
Ahem.
So - story suggestions:
I would lovelovelove to see Corazon and Cassie being awesome and good friends as well as having a Bechdel Test passing conversation. There were at least two opportunities where this could have happened but didn’t. Danny Boyle noted (at the talk where the aforementioned vid was filmed) that he wants to do a film that will pass this test – and I am sure he will (and I will pay damn good money to see it too!). Just not here.
I also adore Capa and Mace – we shall not discuss the crush the size of a small *moon* that I have on Cillian Murphy, nor that I’ll quite happily watch Chris Evans in nearly *anything*… ditto Michelle Yeoh. And Rose Byrne was in one of my favourite films of the year this year, which is always nice.
Other ideas - How do they deal with things like touch hunger and being a long way from home? What are their coping mechanisms?
Or give me a what if - what if they hadn't found the Icarus I - completed their mission and returned home. They've saved the solar system - now what? How do they adjust to real life and to the fact that they're (regarded by everybody else as) heroes?
SUPERMAN RETURNS Superman Returns (2006) @ IMDB
Simply put - this movie deserves more love than it gets. I fell in love with it in 2006, and regard it as one of my favourite films of all time - of which there are a few! Needless to say that I have… opinions on the Snyder re-boot – don’t ask, it will get messy!
One of the things I loved and adored was that there were consequences – the reality Clark/Superman came back to was very different from the one he left and him trying to figure out where he fitted in and how to deal with the new paradigm. Richard is a good man, he’s not Superman but then again…in a way, neither is Clark. I adore Lois, and feel that these guys complement her as she does for them. If that makes any *sense* at all! Babbling monster is babbling!
So, I’d love to hear about Lois, Richard and Clark/Superman forming a relationship, post film. Not just because Jason needs the support but for themselves - because they love each other. Friendship/companionship is awesome as is the sexyteims if that works for you. All I ask is that everyone gets equal love!
ROCKNROLLA RocknRolla @ IMDB
aka - 'Chris Nolan and Inception have a *lot* to answer for!'
Although Tom Hardy 'pinged' my radar in '05 in a production called The Virgin Queen, it took Mr Nolan's little filmnomming my braaain to sit up and take note. And get around to watching Star Trek: Nemesis too!
I love the friendships that the Wild Bunch share. They'll do pretty much anything for each other and even though they know each other so well... they don't but they (mostly) work around that. Or do they?
So, yes, 'The Further Adventures of The Wild Bunch' please. Handsome Bob front and centre would be *awesome*. Especially if there is dancing involved (because that scene where the audience find out what he did on his 'supposed' last night of freedom made me make *dolphin noises* when I first watched it!).
Or
A slice of life with Handsome Bob and Mumbles (who, lets be honest is a diamond geezer) sitting in the Speeler just shooting the breeze (discussing One Two's utter ignorance of what everyone else knew possibly?) and possibly One Two catching the clue bus would also be a thing of awesome.
And that is that. Obviously - these are just suggestions - if you, awesome writer, have a bunny that’s currently feasting on your ankle that you want to write then... fire up the word processor, draw yourself a beverage and WRITE! I’m sure I’m going to like it!
So - to conclude - have fun and I hope that your fic is as awesome as you are!
