Some may remember that I mentioned a while ago that I had spent the budgies for this year?

Um - TPTB don't quite agree - from *somewhere* they have found £15,000 (for all schools - mine is getting about £3,000, that's about $5,000) to spend on 'certain' resources by FRIDAY (or near enough).

Anyone who is thinking that this is *easy* - there are strings attached. They have to be electronic academic texts, preferably reading list material.

As Eleven would say... 'Squeaky Bum Tiem!'

nialla42 any sage words of advice would be greatly received. celandineb - are you *sure* you want to do academic?!

DAY TWENTY TWO - A WHO RELATED FANSITE

Mainly because it is possibly one of the best sources of info out there, I humbly advocate who_daily for all your Doctor Who related needs.

It covers *everything*, I usually just scan it for the news (of which there is oodles of the stuff) but it does fic, art, meta and everything in between. You name it, it's likely to be on their radar.

That and having been a news editor myself (ncis_newsletter '07-'09) I can only bow down to the *scale* of their efforts. On a *bad* night of about 25 items+ it would take me about an hour, hour plus to code the newsletter. These guys must take nearly five hours on their *bad* nights (usually right after a new episode broadcast).

So - I cite these as today's entry.

We used to get "leftover" money from our regional library system's budget because it was a use it or lose it thing.

No major strings, other than it had to be spent very quickly. Sounds like fun (and it is *g*), but trying to use it to best effect, especially in a small collection, isn't so much fun with a deadline.

What are they specifically considering to be "academic" texts? If we're talking fiction to be used as part of a curriculum, I'd look at what's been in high demand in text format as well take a look at the curriculum for a few classes if you can in the time allowed.

I'm assuming you already have a source for purchasing them. Perhaps they have a recommendation list.

Let me know more details if you can and we shall ponder. ;)
