These are all in the order I first saw them in - I make no apologies for my selections, just that these are films that I loved and admired greatly.

Brokeback Mountain
Crash might have won the Best Picture Oscar, but I think this is the film that people are going to remember. The one that will take it's place in pop culture. I didn't write a review because I just couldn't find the words that described how beautiful a heartbreak this film is. Like 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' before it, it's a film about love that is not acted upon, be it due to honour or the 'demands' of society to the detriment of all.
Superb.

Good Night and Good Luck
Somebody up there really likes George Clooney. The man has it ALL. And then some. Else why would his second outing as a director look like it has been directed by a more 'experienced' helmer? It's beautifully put together. The b&w photography adds to the atmosphere as does the music. But there is more going on here than just that. A lot more. This might have happened in the 1950's but the lessons it teaches regarding freedom of speech and jouralistic integrity are still as relevant now as they were then.

V for Vendetta
My neverending review for this one is out there... somewhere. Like the Matrix before it, this is a film tha will be remembered for a very very long time. Stonking performances by all the cast, from Hugo Weaving as V to Stephen Fry showing why he is such a national treasure.
Marvellous stuff.

Ballet Russes
If you are of the opinion that ballet is a artform that is simply for the hoipolloi then watch this. It traces the development of ballet from being a niche art form to one for the masses. It also shows the true spirit of dance and ballet. Showing that when it's done with heart - it's one of the most beautiful things on this earth. Apart from m/m... but that's in here too:D

Cars
It's Pixar, stupid.

Superman returns
Bryan Singer has now re-claimed his pedestal as director/geek/cutie beyond compare. I can now find peace over car crash known as X3 (just!). Everything about this film works; even the small kid. Especial kudos must go to Brandon Routh for nailing BOTH Superman and Clark Kent. Don't take my word for it - go see!
