Having watched all 4 hours of it (not all at once - that would be silly;)) I can safely say the following...
The (for want of a better word) choeorgraphed sequences at the beginning? Breathtaking. Just simply astounding. Hardly a surprise when you consider that the man behind it all is Zhang Yimou. Director of films like Hero, House of Flying Daggers and most recently Curse of the Golden Flower
Best bits? The drumming and the scroll were just utterly amazing. As was the 'footprint' painting.

Kudos to the BBC for their commentary. Yes, they've gotten flack for taking so many people along to the games to cover it (can you blame them? It's not going to be an issue the next time around!) but they did a bang up job on commentating on the 204 nations taking part.
Geography, politics, culture - this was just as much about education as it was entertainment.
Very well done.

The torchlighting? That sound that could be heard? The smack of millions of jaws hitting the floor. The guy who lit it must have nerves of steel and great faith in the backroom boys. Even so, what an image!

Does anyone want to bet that the team who are putting together London 2012 are currently scrabbling around for this guy's phone number?
Because they won't be after this guy's;)*
*Little bit of movie humour there. Move along.

May the best team win and all that - but if they're British, Irish or Kiwi (cos!) then yay!
