I can't be the only one who read this story and double checked the date? Yes, it still is 30th October;) I'm taking the 'wait and see' approach with these. As much as I'm looking forward to introducing Shinzon!nephew to Star Wars when he's old enough (James Bond too but that's another matter altogether!) I wasn't quite expecting to do it *this* way.

The less said about today's teaching sessions, the better. Six classes, seven flouncers, four v. supportive colleagues (and counting), two students defending me and one very sore voice.

Yeah, it's been a hell of a day. Bring on the weekend and the family DRAHMAZ (It's Shinzon's birthday today, there will be picspam) and his party is at ours on Sunday. Perhaps it will be okay...

Yes, I've brought Shinzon's birthday present today and spotted said historical weapon (in minature, of course!) hence the question. My sister has also said that 'toys that make noise' are also acceptable for his birthday...

AHAHAHAHAHA! *evil cackle* She is *so* going to regret saying that;) If not me, then one of his 'other' aunties will either for his birthday or for... you know... christmas< / christmas>

Today's word count - 500. I kiddeth you not! 1270 words in three days is damn good going;) No more NC-17 stuff today, but there has been slurs and violence. All 'good' stuff.

So - how are you guys?

If you can read this, it's because I have you as a friend. There is a *damn* good reason for this, which I hope will become abundantly clear.

So - yes, seven years ago today, I started this blog. Sometimes it seems like seven minutes, other times it seems like seventy years;) Even so, I just want to make a note of this achievement and look back (and look forwards) at the year gone by.

One of the big events of the year gone by was the arrival the Shinzon Monster AKA my nephew. He's six months old tomorrow and he's... well... have a look for yourself:



I don't know if you can see it but his onesie says 'Hungry Monster' - he's also a very *chatty* monster as well. It's all 'babble' at the moment (or rather my babel fish cannot translate 'baby') but I get the impression that he's inherited the Monster ability to talk. As well as the desire to stand up rather than sit up... Heavens only knows what he's going to be like when he gets to the year mark!

O hai! Internets! How are you all?. Me? Went away for a few days for my birthday - to Paris (France) and had a lovely time eating food that involved chocolate and embarrassing myself with my godawful French. Thankfully the French speak superb English - which just makes matters worse. They also subtitle 'Hollywood' films - which is v.cool.

I spent the actual day of my birthday - last Monday at Disneyland Paris. Because. Also, nothing says 'birthday' like going on All The Rollercoasters and laughing hysterically*. Whether not wearing my glasses helped, (or more correctly - didn't) is a matter of debate. I also took more photos than strictly necessary - part of the course;)

*yes, I scared people. I may be small, female, English/Irish but I have a laugh like The Predator.

I would have come back online a couple of days ago but... I fell ill. You don't need the details but from what I can tell it was (possibly) the Norovirus - think the 'flu with vomiting and diarrhoea and you're reasonably close. Felt like I'd been run over by a *bus*. All thanks to the much beloved nephew who had given it to his mum and then to the rest of his family over the weekend.

Family - you have to love them;)

Obviously *everyone* knows that the new Doctor Who Companion has been announced - SPOILERS sweetie. The only thing I have to say on the matter is that I am on the fence.

At first blush, zie seems more of the same. As much as I had beef with RTD's tenure (mostly towards the end) - at least there was *some* variation with regards to companion. Hell, we even had guys as companions. Even so, I feel that I will not be alone on said fence...

So, yes, Christmas happened. Shinzon is growing like the proverbial - he also has hair. Or an approximation of it. Photos to follow. Even so, it was good - there was food, there was family and there were Doctor Who (and book tokens - lots of book tokens!)

The Chrimbo Limbo also happened. I picked up a pinch hit for secret_mutant; tried that 'Life' thing everyone keeps talking about and watched not enough movies More on that when I do the December round up. So that's why I've been monster non-grata for a couple of days.

Something else that happened, as many will know, was yuletide. This year, to my astonishment, amazement and undying gratitude, I recieved not just one gift but THREE.

Yes, you read that right, THREE. I have no idea what I have done in the last year to be accorded such wealth but I would like to express my undying gratitude to those lovely folks who put pen to paper/fingers to keyboards for the following lovely stories:

These two are borne from the same prompt - Bronte writes about Jane meeting Rochester in her dreams when they are apart and I asked for fic that deal with that. And these two jewels are the results. The first one conjures up all sorts of wonderful AUs for this paring (the Pirate!Rochester would suit the 2011 version down to the ground;)) not to mention it gives St John Rivers a fair hearing as well.

The second one is of especial note as it marries up Jane Eyre with Destino a collaboration between Dali and Disney. Which if you have never seen it, I do recommend that you take five minutes out to watch it as it is a thing of beauty. I love Dali's work and this marriage of these two wildly divergent canons is a beauty to behold.

A lovely, sweet story, set post film that shows Clark, Richard and Lois coming together for the benefit of Jason to try and ensure that he has the best of both worlds. It's a lovely gen story that I recommend to all and sundry.

If any of my gifters are reading this - you are all awesome and I wish you nothing but a superb 2012 filled with lots of good things and helpful muses. Thank you again, you are all wonderful.

I cannot speak to my secret_mutant gift yet, as it hasn't been given yet but I am sure that when it arrives I will like it a lot. I haven't had much of a chance to read many of the other fics yet (see note above about trying to have a life. Not recommended!) but I am hoping that when everything calms down to a dull roar, I'll be able to finish going through both the yuletide archive and the secret_mutant collection to read All The Fics!

Needless to say, that as it's a new year, I have various 'housekeeping' tasks to do - such as setting up the Films Watched in...' list (now in it's sixth year!) and to post my yuletide story and make a few comments on it.

So in short - prepare to be spammed;) And I hope that everyone has a wonderful 2012!

Which it is - yes, I came that close to binning over 2,000 words of my secret_mutant story again. Also? the yuletide mantra of 'Optional Details Are Optional' should apply to all the damn ficathons!

New Promo images from John Carter (of Mars). This is being directed by Andrew Wall.E Stanton. Which, trust me, is more than reason enough to watch this film. Having read the (first) book, I am glad to see this guy made the cut. Zie is awesome.

When the 'official' announcements were made regarding Bond 23 aka Skyfall, the characters that some of the actors would be playing were not noted. Even so, it was teased that these would be known to people who had read the books. In that vein, Ben Whishaw will be 'Q'. If he says *that* line, made famous by the late, great Desmond Llewellyn, I will be a very happy monster indeed.

I've only seen THREE movies this month. Which by my standards is appalling But I have finally met my nephew - warning: cute baby. So, there is balance (and also Wednesday).

Also, I have written over 100 words every day and blogged every day. The new 'high-speed' (i.e. the damn thing goes and I can watch trailers in almost real-time) t'internet may not approve but hey!;) Need to keep going until, yes, you've guessed it... WEDNESDAY!

In other RL news - I have nearly all my Christmas presents 'sorted' bar one. And by 'sorted', I mean, I either have purchased them/know what to buy them and will purchase as soon as funds/time become available. This is nearly unheard of.

Next thing you know, I will be posting my 'manoeuvres' for December/January and by manoeuvres I mean what I am going to see at the BFI and when. Consider that a warning;)

Words written today - 181 for secret_mutant story - this is (possibly) the hardest part of the story. I have a rough idea of the road, but getting the show onto it... yeah! And with the yuletide nominations closing today and my assignment for that due soon after - the easier I can make things for myself, the better.

In my last post, I noted that 'Wotsit' was on their way. Well, they have arrived. I've not said anything yet because - a) no photos and b) I was waiting for his parents to decide what to call them.

Allow me to introduce you to Mister James Thomas Seddon. My Nephew. Born 12th October 2011 at 4.49am, weighing in at 6lb 13oz. His mummy and daddy are immensely proud. His (maternal) Granny and Grandad are estatic (their first grandchild - also both of his names were shared by close family members - my uncle who passed last year was a James and my maternal grandfather and uncle - neither no longer with us - were both Thomases) and his aunties (or at very least this one!) are too.

I, alas, have not had the pleasure of meeting him yet as I came down with a head cold on Friday/Saturday. My immune system has zip all sense of timing! Needless to say, once I have shot of the cold - I'll be making his aquaintance.

After all, someONE has to introduce him to the delights of Star Wars, Doctor Who and with initals like that Star Trek: TOS/AOS as well;) Not to mention - all the robot and dinosaur toys he can handle... what?!
