Dear Universe

Sorry I could not be celebrating Doctor Who with friends today - I went to meet my six week old nephew for the first time instead.

He has Kirk's name and Picard's hair. Presenting Shinzon Monster! (bloody large photo is bloody large! Also - CUTE BABY ALERT!!) )

Lots of love

Me

P.S. Next time? Can I please do this without coming home and p*ssing the Mother Unit off by mentioning something that Sister 2 said in passing? Kaithanxbai!

* * *

Words written today - 181 for [livejournal.com profile] secret_mutant story - this is (possibly) the hardest part of the story. I have a rough idea of the road, but getting the show onto it... yeah! And with the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide nominations closing today and my assignment for that due soon after - the easier I can make things for myself, the better.

Thing The First
The reason for radio silence at my end - the Second Snowpocalyse of 2010. Yes, *again*. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the cold? As much as bigotry (in all it's forms), book burning and the Doctor regenerating.

The thing I hate the most - it's all anyone can talk about. Not to mention the fact that it disrupts everything. (2 hours 50 minutes to do a journey that usually takes 45-60? QED)

Please, oh great Flying Spagetti Monster (and any other deities listening to my plea) let this be the first and last snowpocalyse of 2010-11. Kaythanxbai.

Thing The Second
I haven't posted a black and white pretty thing recently - so have this: Professor Brian Cox, all shaggy hair and smiles in a UK diner oh and he's also on telly again in the new year too Which is nice;).

Thing The Third
I am putting this in - if nothing else to remind me that, yes, sometimes I can bloody well write...

[livejournal.com profile] yuletide assignment - 1st Draft - DONE (in one sitting, might I add?!)

Inception Santa assignment - 1st Draft - DONE

[livejournal.com profile] yuletide treat - under consideration (research, queries and bunnies)... you know the drill!

Level of jubilation - \o/ \o/ \o/

I'm hoping to get both ready for posting by the end of term - which for me is 17th December. It's a good hope to have;)

Thing The Fourth
Nearly all of my Christmas presents have been purchased/on their way/in my grubby little paws. I would say 'yay' but one of the presents does involve photos from the Wedding Of The Year (a photobook for my mum) - this could get messy. Oh and I need to get cards sorted out as well...

Christmas - why so much effort?!

Thing The Fifth
This is more for [livejournal.com profile] vayshti and anyone else who has membership of the BFI - fair warning of monster maneuvers in January;)

I'm putting in for the Disney films (Tangled, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Pinocchio) as well as 127 Hours - Danny Boyle is doing a Q&A afterwards. After hearing him speak in August, I can say that this should be good. Just pity the poor sod who has to sit next to me! (I freaked out at the Joker's 'pencil' trick in The Dark Knight) given the 'nature' of the story (google it) - this cannot end well!

I'm also giving due consideration to Black Swan as well. I've been jonesying to see this for months so I might as well give in and go... Even though it opens on the following Friday.
Patience? What's that?!

So, that's me. how are you?

One more for luck

Dear Immune System

Look, I know I said that October was going to be hell. This does not mean that you can shirk you job and give me cold sores! Buck up back there and get rid of them for next weekend!

In happier news - A No Stress 30 Days Of Photography Meme - take as long as you want, chop and change days - just create and share 30 'days' of photos!

Yes, I am considering this - consider this fair warning;)

If you see something *more* nerdy than the above in the next twenty-four hours... do share;) The accompanying picture makes me more gleeful than I really should be. Though show me someone who calls themselves a Who fan who wouldn't be that... joyful and I'll show you a liar.

Talking of pictures - I am an absolute *sucker* for black and white photography. There is just something inherently *beautiful* about it. So with that in mind, I give you Professor Brian Cox contemplating the cycle of life at the Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu. Just beautiful.

(Serkit message to [livejournal.com profile] torn_eledhwen - THANK YOOOU and I think I'll rewrite that bit - tighten it up a bit. Might even make it over the 20,000 word mark!)

In other news - 1st week of new term has been survived. Although it has been a close run thing - We've lost a member of staff today - she's (literally) moving onto bigger and better things. As in a project for my country's National Library. That and none of us have been able to move for people asking *questions*. Which is great... when they blinking well listen to the *answers*!

Oh yes, and the nursing intake starts on Tuesday... all 250 of 'em. Which just happens to be the day that I post my [livejournal.com profile] tw_bigbang story.

Nurses I can handle - five-ten 30 minute tours, niet problemski! Posting 20,000 words of a fic that is one part drawer-fic (movie references a go-go!) seven parts a fandom I've never written before (and given the plunging depths of my antipathy regarding the fourth series of said show, am likely to ever again!) and two parts a character who is *very* different (in a way that if I screw up I could cause a sh*t storm) from me and... Is it Thursday* yet?!

*Thursday is payday... and while October is going to be more batsh*t insane than September has been - I'll take it!

Oh... Serena, never, ever stop being so utterly awesome! I read a comment on in the Sunday Times a couple of weeks back, which stated that he (Sir Ian McKellen - living national treasure and generally nice man, tm, if it wasn't utterly obvious!) writing his autobiography. No idea when it will be published but one thing is for sure - I can't read it in public as I'll make a scene because I'm laughing too much. just like I did for John Barrowman's books

Also - random factoid of the day - If Sir Patrick Stewart *had* taken Sir Ian's advice - someone else would have been Jean-Luc Picard. Thank the lord for small mercies!;)

***

Neil Gaiman writes about his experience at the Oscars - just when you think he couldn't get anymore awesome... He does this (and will be writing an episode of S6 Who too!)

***

Dear ALA and CILIP - please can you use these NSFW photos for future publicity posters. No?

Humpf! No fun - whatsoever!

****

Memo to the British Weather - It's Easter at the weekend and the clocks went forward on Sunday - so what's with the bloody SNOW!!11! Sort it out! Although - ease up on the rain - it's scaring the cat.

***

New Radio Times Cover - featuring Eleven and Amy - expect details of episode titles tomorrow then!

***

And now - to something completely different!

A very succinct and truthful review by [livejournal.com profile] torn_eledhwen

A very verbose, fangrrly and utterly subjective review by me )

The night ended with me traversing London with a *huge* grin on my face and singing 'I am what I am' at the top of my voice as I walked back to my car... at about ten past midnight.

My thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] torn_eledhwen for being excellent company and generally awesome (we WILL do something like this again, soon!) and to the Universe for giving me a day like yesterday.

One final thing - GINORMOUS and amazing picspam for the London run of 'La Cage Aux Folles' - featuring various casts - spoilers for the show by [livejournal.com profile] bethan_b_bad.
