As a cookie - which y'all need after reading that 'little' lot... I am hoping that I will be able to post new fic soon. It's been beta'ed - just awaiting the all clear:D Until then, it's back to the Sam Gen story I'm writing for a ficathon *flails*. It's like Nanny Ogg spelling 'banana'. It's started, but where it ends is another matter ENTIRELY!

Fic recs - come and get your fic recs while they're hot;)

Okay - first up, presenting Galactica Noir A WIP, yes, but it's a total crackfic! that needs to be shared. Written by [livejournal.com profile] ghoulsis it's a melange of Raymond Chandler and '04 BSG and it works beautifully! You don't really need to know much about Battlestar Galactica (other than character names) but it does help;) Also it has a strong leaning towards Adama (Snr) and Roslin... which I admire greatly because... yeah!;)

Galactica Noir Part One

Galactica Noir Part Two

Next up... a story that I happened upon by searching through someone else's lj (Wotcha [livejournal.com profile] _minxy_) After the whole shebang with LJ not showing my posts up on other people's ljs for a week, it was a good idea to 'check' that my posts were showing up... While I was doing so, I ended up browsing through, as you do, and I kept picking bits and peices up. A couple of new people to friend, a new comm [livejournal.com profile] reel_sga and a fic or three too.

Which is where I found this: Springier by Jet.

Yes, it's an X-Files fic. Yes, I do feel that this sums up the relationship between Mulder and Scully beautifully. Yes, I am on disc two of Season two and enjoying it intensely. It's part relieving memories of a very good time and discovering a damn fine tv show. Now if I can only find some Skinner smut I will be one very happy monster:D

I have some SG-1 recs as well but the coding is playing silly buggers so I shall try again later. Best that I walk away and get some chocolate. Know what I'm saying?;)

Right... before I go, one question. Watched the Farscape episode 'Revenging Angel' yesterday and... What on Earth (or any other reality you might care to mention) were the writers on? That must have been some frelling good crack!

Without giving too much away... Farscape + Looney Tunes = serious weirdness! Oh and Skinner has just told Krychek to take Mulder home... take those damn slashy vibes AWAY! I'm begging here;)

I present a list of things that rocketh mightily and perhaps one or two things that aren't.

Things that are cool
X-Files Season 1 (one disc left - must resist temptation to buy S2 straight away)

Farscape S3 - 'Infinite Possiblities - Icarus Abides' just broke me (waiting for play.com to send the final Starburst set for S3)

Getting three disparate DVDs in the post from my 'Netflix' clone - Andromeda S2 Disc 9 (it has Chris Judge's first episode on it;)), 'Sky High' (Disney does live action superheroes) and 'Untold Scandal' (A Korean version of 'Les Liasons Dangereux')

As of the day after tomorrow, I'm off for four days, then two days back at work then off for another four days.

Getting the inspiration that has allowed me to carry on with a story I was writing a while ago. Spose it's one good reason for putting up with a muse with ADHD. If he won't work on one story - there are about nine on the backburner for him to work on!

The way that Freddie Mercury's voice sounds when he sings 'Somebody to Love'. It might be older than me but damn it's a beautiful song. Almost gospel-like in it's beauty.

Paint Shop Pro looks almost idiot proof (I still have to test this out)

The new Alphagate archive (which is!;))

The overabundance of movies I want to see ('Tstoti', 'Romance and Cigarettes', 'Inside Man', 'The Three Burials of Miguel Esterada', 'Ice Age 2', 'Take the Lead' - eclecetism thy name is Beckymonster!;))

Someone else thinks that Ronon from SG: Atlantis looks like Tyr from Andromeda (take a bow [livejournal.com profile] mice1900)

Did I mention that Doctor Who re-starts on Saturday?! Alright then - that the information given in this weeks Radio Times points to the fact that this could be as good a season, if not better than last years.

Boots Chocolate fudge brownies

Work being quiet. Even though I work in a library, it's nice when it is *quiet*. It doesn't happen that often.

Things that don't
Having my eyesight frelled around with by trying out new contact lenses. The ouchies are bad enough, but having my sight depth (how far ahead I can see) cut in half is no laughing matter.

Being told by a student to keep my voice down while on the enquiry desk.

Standing around nearly helpless while a student was prone on my office floor. The student was taken off to hospital eventually but it could have been a lot worse. Big needles and all sorts!

Birthday whinge alert! )

There... that's better!;) This does mean that the muse has decided to b*gger off for a vacation for the time being. He shall return. He always does;) I wouldn't mind but I had a fic that I wanted to at least finish the first draft (to post) here as a mathom for Sunday. Oh well, I have nearly 72 hours to track the bastard down!;)

It's not as bad as it could be. He has left me with ideas for making new jewellery - specifically two brooches and a new pair of earrings. I'll keep y'all informed.

In other news... BSG returns to Skiffy in OCTOBER?!
Now, I cannot profess to know the minds of the execs who came up with this decision. What I can hypothesise is that (if I've spelt it right!;)) is that Sky usually start showing their new series about then.
Sky pay part of BSG's production costs. Could it be that we're going to get (gosh, shock HORROR!) to see BSG within a week/same week as the Americans?

It would be nice;) One tiny problem. I *pray* that if this is so, it does not clash with Torchwood. That would be too damn ebil for words!

The TARDIS lands on the 'Television WithOut Pity' boards which either could be a thing of great wonder or a total bloodbath. TWoP are not known for suffering fools gladly. Obviously, this is going to be 'interesting' as they'll be working with the American airing (starting on St Patrick's day) rather than the UK airing.

Personally I am curious as to what our American cousins think of this little show. It's almost a shame that we have to wait so damn long for Captain Jack to turn up (hee hee!)

For a taster of what they are like, I refer you to this re-cap of Farscape's 'A Human Reaction' which in my mind is one of the best Farscape episodes EVER!

Not only that but anyone who can create something like this has to have the sort of sense of humour to appreciate Doctor Who. (it does help if you've watched the new series of Battlestar;))
Or then again... perhaps not!;)
